The Heist by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg

I recently read The Heist by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg. This story follows FBI Special Agent Kate O’Hare after she tracks down and captures Nicolas Fox. Shortly after He is arrested he begins working for the FBI. It becomes Kate's job to risk prison to work with Nick while he scams con men out of money. 

This book was a very nice beach read. It was fast and enjoyable. The story itself did leave you wanting more. I hope that this book is turned into a full series because I would love to see further adventures of Kate and Nick.

Pros & Cons by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg

I recently red Pros & Cons by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg. It is a prequel to their new book The Heist which was published today. As a huge fan of Janet Evanovich's novels I am very excited to read her new book. This story led me to discover Lee Goldberg who has written many tv shows including Monk, and Diagnosis Murder. 

Pros & Cons follows FBI agent Kate O’Hare as she continues her quest for criminal Nick Fox. This story leads Kate to Chicago where she is convinced that Nick is pretending to be a wedding planner in order to rob a penthouse apartment. This short story hints at a long past that has a romantic twist too. It leaves you wanting more. I cannot wait to read The Heist!

The Repeat Year by Andrea Lochen

I recently read The Repeat Year by Andrea Lochen. This story follows Olive, a nurse who wakes up thinking it is 2012 but it is really January 1, 2011. She begins to relieve the entire year. She remembers patient outcomes, breaking up with a boyfriend who thinks they are still together, and moving out of an apartment she is currently living. 

Although this book was well written. I did not enjoy this book. The concept seemed more thrilling than the story was. The story was hard to follow, often making the reader confused as to what year it actually was. The premise of the story itself was unrealistic. How can someone wake up and repeat an entire year?

For me this book would not be an easy beach read. More thought process is need to successfully follow the storyline.

The Love Wars by L. Alison Heller

I recently read The Love Wars by L. Alison Heller. This story follows Molly Grant a finance lawyer turned divorce lawyer through her first big divorce case. In the process she falls in love.

While the story was cute it seemed very bland. Ms. Heller, a lawyer herself put too much emphasis on the law aspect of the story and not enough into the character's personal lives. Although it was nice to see a smart woman portrayed in chick lit. Typically chick lit books portray females as ditzy. I enjoyed the fact that Molly did whatever it took to fight for what she believed in, even if it put her job at risk. Too many portions of the story reminded me of previously read novels, such as the Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger. This book did leave me wanting more.

It was a light read and would be perfect to bring to the beach with you. Come back and tell us what you thought of it!
