The Job by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg

I recently red The Job by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg. This is the third book in the Fox & O'Hare series. This story follows Kate O'Hare, an FBI agent and Nicholas Fox, criminal. The pair work together to solve a crimes, only this time they do not know who they are looking for.

I absolutely love Janet Evanovich's books. All are light, fun, usually funny movies. This book was the same. The story takes all over the world, leading Kate and Nick into often dangerous territory. Danger in many ways, physical safety and physical attraction .

This story is the perfect read! I hope that everyone picks it up!

All Fall Down by Jennifer Weiner

This story follows overwhelmed mother, daughter, writer Allison Weiss through her journey through recreational drug use, to full addiction and finally doing something about it. Allison has a father who has Alzheimer's, a mother who doesn't know how to handle the household duties like paying bills and an extremely sensitive daughter who often requires extra attention and measures in order to make her happy.

I was able to relate to this story, on some level. Reading has always been my peace. It's the way I deal with stress. At the time I was following this story I was dealing with an extremely painful hip and back injury. Although my back is now significantly better, my hip is not. My medication was not nearly as strong as the pills Allison was taking. I was also dealing with crazy, stressful situations in my office. I have a co-worker who yells and screams for just about everything and someone
who had decided the month of July was the month he was going to nit pick everything I did. That being said reading this book related to me a lot more than a story about drug addiction should have. For the record, unlike Allison I fight the pain and wait until I really cannot take it anymore to take anything (just 1 pill). I DO NOT take anything that has not be rightfully prescribed to me and nothing I take is anywhere horrible as what the character of Allison was taking.

This story could very easily be anyone's story. The addiction is only one aspect. With Ms. Weiner's amazing writing skills you can feel the stresses in Allison's life. I found myself unable to put the book down. In the moments I forced to step away from it getting back to the book became all I could think about. I absolutely adore Ms. Weiner's stories. I cannot wait until her next one is announced and I can once again begin my countdown to publication clock!

The Sweet Spot by Stephanie Evanovich

I recently read The Sweet Spot by Stephanie Evanovich. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Evanovich. I had high hopes that the writing gene would be passed down from Stephanie's aunt Janet. Within in the first few chapters it was very clear that that the gene was definitely passed!

This story follows baseball player Chase Walker when he first meets restauranteur Amanda. At Amanda and Chases first interaction he falls madly in love with her. However, Amanda isn't that easy to persuade. The story shows Chase's quest to have Amanda fall in love.

I truly enjoyed this story. I could not put it down. I had my co-workers read it the day after I finished! We all loved it. I cannot wait to read Ms. Evanovich's first book, Big Girl Panties as well as all of her future books. She definitely has a new fan!

The One & Only by Emily Giffin

I recently read The One & Only by Emily Giffin. This story follows super football  fan Shea Rigsby. Shea has been a Walker football fan her entire life. Her best friends father is the coach of the college team. After Shea's best friend's mother passes away Shea's life changes in unexpected ways.

Although I enjoy Ms. Giffin's books this one was not my favorite. It was very sports oriented, specifically football. I am not someone who is very interested in sports, especially football. Football is a sport that I know absolutely nothing about, beyond the Superbowl has a good halftime show and awesome commercials. If it involved baseball at least I would have been able to understand the game involved. The characters and story line are very well developed. You can see the growth, love and passion that the characters possess. So do not let the sports aspect keep you from reading!

Bathing & the Single Girl by Christine Elise McCarthy

If you are a woman in your 20-30's you probably know who Christine Elise McCarthy is. If I were to say the name Emily Valentine you most likely would think about a certain California based TV show and possibly think of the clip below:

or you may also know her as Harper Tracy on my all time favorite medical Drama, ER (
Christine Elise ER demo reel from IMDB). What you may not know about her is she was a writer on Beverly Hills 90210, she is a photographer, she writes a food blog and she recently wrote her first book, Bathing & The Single Girl.

Bathing & The Single Girl This story follows actress Ruby Fitzgerald on her quest to regain the fame she once had. Ruby has not worked in years, nor has she had a relationship in years. She is struggling financially and emotionally.

This book is very well written and very easily pulls you into the lives of the characters.  This book was hysterical. It's the PERFECT summer beach read! While the character Ruby is a struggling actress the events of her daily life could easily be applied to anyone's life. You will absolutely love this book! I highly suggest you run (or click) and buy it as soon as you can!

I am highly looking forward to Ms. McCarthy's future writings and appearances.

Catching Air by Sarah Pekkanen

I recently read Catching Air by Sarah Pekkanen. This is her newest book. The story follows a family as they leave the life they once knew to open up a bed and breakfast. Kira Danner, once a busy lawyer has to find her  new roll in the bed and breakfast, while her husband Peter struggles to develop a relationship with his estranged brother Rand. Rand and his wife Alyssa have been traveling all over the world, never staying in one place for very long. They also have been struggling to start a family. When Alyssa gets surprising news they take in Dawn, to help with the B&B. Dawn is trying to hid while avoiding a dangerous situation.

As with Ms. Pekkanen's other stories, this one evokes strong emotions. She has a way of writing that makes you believe that her characters can be your family or friends. One the story ends you cannot help but think what their lives would be like now. Ms. Pekkanen's characters are very well developed, heart-felled, heartache with a twist of humor. An absolutely fantastic read!

This book will be published this Tuesday May 6, 2014. I highly suggest that you go out and get it!

The Chase by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg

I recently read The Chase by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg. This is the second book in the Fox & O'Hare series. The story follows FBI agent Kate O'Hare and fugitive Nick Fox. Kate and Nick began working together after Nick was arrested. As part of his sentence he commits crimes to help those who have been taking advantage of  their power positions. The relation ship between Kate and Nick is sometimes complicated. Kate has feelings for nick, but will not give in. The Chase follows Nick's illegal chase for an art thief. Although Kate's FBI boss knows that this is going on, if she gets caught in another country she is out of a job and may be arrested.

I love this series. They are so much fun to read, and I cannot wait for the third one. The tension between Kate and Nick is clearly visible throughout the story. This book is the perfect vacation or beach read! I highly suggest you read The Heist, The Chase and the soon to be release The Job as soon as you can!

Takedown Twenty by Janet Evanovich

I recently read Takedown Twenty by Janet Evanovich. Like the previous 19 books, this story follows Stephanie Plum, Joe Morelli, Lula and Ranger. Stephanie searches for a mob boss who has been arrested for murder. This mob boss is not your typical mob boss, he is also Morelli's godfather.

Like the previous stories before it there is a murder, Stephanie has car issues, Lula over eats, there is the Morelli, Ranger, Stephanie love triangle and to top the craziness off there is a giraffe named Kevin that only Stephanie and Lula seem to see. This story lacked on the Morelli, Ranger story line. I would have liked to see more about them. I feel like this story was rushed. It lacked some of the enthusiasm that the previous stories have. I hope that the next one is a little more appealing.

Twisted Vine by Toby Neal

I would like to start with an apology to Ms. Neal. I wrote the review below months ago, but I accidentally clicked the wrong thing and it never posted. Due to various things in my life I have been neglecting my blog and did not realize until today that it never posted.

I recently read Twisted Vine by Toby Neal. It is the 5th book in the Lei Crime Series. The story follows Lei Texeria as an FBI agent as she tries to uncover a link between a significant number of suicides and the internet.

I have truly loved this book series. Every story takes place in Hawaii. They keep you captivated. The imagery is amazing. Ms. Neals characters are very well developed. This story was no different. The drama  between the personal life of Agent Texeria and the mystery keeps you on your toes each and every time.

I highly suggest that you read all of Ms. Neal's books. I look forward to reading all of her future works.
