A Life That Fits by Heather Wardell

I recently finished A Life That Fits by Heather Wardell.  This story follows Andrea after her life is turned up side down causing her to loose her boyfriend, and job. She begins a quest in which she will change her life to do things she normally would not do.

While parts of this story were extremely predictable it was sweet and caring at the same time. It also has deeper insight into a person's abilities. Ms. Wardell has a unique way of making her books entertaining and realistic at the same time. I highly recommend you read this book. Remember to come back after and tell us what you think too.

Plum Lovin by Janet Evanovich

I recently read Janet Evanovich's Plum Lovin'. This is a between the numbers book. In this story Stephnanie works with Diesel on their quest to find a match maker who has gone missing.

I am not a fan of the between the numbers books. Diesel is a mysterious angel that comes from no where, making this book a little science fictionish.

Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park

Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park follows Julie as she begins a new life away from home at college. When she arrives at what should be her new apartment she realizes that the apartment she payed for was non-existent and she had been scared. She contacts her mother because she has no place to go. Her mother remembers that her old college roommate lives nearby. The roommate Erin sends her son, Matt to pick her up. What starts out as a one night stay in Erin's house turns into a years stay.

Julie takes it upon her self to try to change the life of Erin's young daughter Celeste when she discovers that she carries around a life size cut out of her older brother Finn. She contacts Fin on facebook and soon begins to fall for him. The whole time she remains oblivious to the fact that someone else has fallen for her.

The mystery of why Finn will not return home kept me guessing and wanting more. I only had a few theories as to why and it turns out my first theory was actually correct. I do not want to ruin the ending for you so I will not say what that outcome was but lets just say the story is G-O-O-D! Everyone should read this story and when you do come back and let us know what you thought about Flat-Out Love!

Twelve Sharp by Janet Evanovich

I recently read Twelve Sharp by Janet Evanovich. Similar to the other Stephanie Plum novels, this follows Stephanies quest in life, love, and bounty hunting. Unlike the other novels, this one went deep into the life of Ranger. He and Stephanie have to find his missing daughter, but as usually it isn't easy!

I loved the path that this book took. It was slightly different from the other novels in the series which made it that much more exciting. I hope that everyone reads these books!

I won a Liebster Award

I would like to thank the Chick Lit Cafe for giving me the Liebster Award. If you’ve never heard of it,  the Liebster Award is given to encourage, highlight and congratulate small bloggers (200 followers or less) across the web.

Now on to the rules:
  1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
  2. Reveal your top five picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
  3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
  4. Cross your fingers and hope your followers will spread the love to other bloggers.
  5. And most of all – brag about your award to all your friends and family members! Make sure to be extra obnoxious to those (*cough* my dad) who roll their eyes whenever you blab their ears off about your blog.
Here are a few of my favorite blogs (in no specific order):

Ten Big Ones by Janet Evanovich

So clearly I am completely and utterly addicted to the Stephanie Plum books! I am also determined to read them all (including the in between books) before the next book (Smokin' Seventeen) comes out. Ten Big Ones follows Stephanie trying to locate a man responsible for murders and burning business down. She soon discovers that this man is a member of the Slayer gang and put a hit out on her. She has to find a way to protect herself, while remaining calm and helping to plan her sisters wedding.

I truly enjoyed this book. It had the typical excitement Janet Evanovich brings to her books!  Next up Eleven on Top!

Here, Home, Hope by Kaira Rouda

Here, Home, Hope follows Kelly Johnson's mid life crisis and quest to change her life. Kelly is a mother of two, a wife and appears to have a perfect life. On the inside she is struggling. After a trip to the dentist she decides her life has to change. In the processes of changing she re-establishes friendships, helps a teenager in need, creates her own business, and helps friends establish their own businesses. This book is funny and inspirational all at the same time!

Having never been through a midlife crisis I did not think I would enjoy this book. It turns out that the saying never judge a book by its cover is very, very true. This book was more enjoyable than I truly thought it would be. I laughed and cried through out the book. I often found myself routing for Kelly to get what she deserves.

This book is truly empowering. It shows that if you are not happy make a change for the better.

Stuck In Downward Dog by Chantel Simmons

Stuck In Downward Dog by Chantel Simmons

I recently finished reading Stuck In Downward Dog. This is a story about a girl, Mara who gets dumped by her boyfriend, is living in a basement, and is stuck at a job she hates. She decides that she hates her life and wants to be like her friends. She creates a list to follow in order to be more like them. In the process she realizes that she may never reach their potential.

The story concept was a fantastic. Chantel Simmons has a unique way of making you feel a part of the book. The characters seem like people you would encounter in every day life. I am not a violent person but I really felt the urge to want to punch Olivia and Mitz. I wanted to shake Mara and ask her what she was thinking wanting to be like those two! I really enjoyed the ending ( I don't want to ruin it for anyone so that is all I will say about the ending).

In the end I found this book to be a good motivational book for those who do not have the courage to change their life.

I recommend you read it and then get back to us with your opinion!

Hotel No Tell by Daphne Uviller

Hotel No Tell follows Zephyr Zuckerman, who after many career choices settles down as an investigator. She is assigned a case to go under cover at a hotel in order to figure out who is steeling money from them. Little did she know what this would lead to her uncovering much, much more!

I read this for BookSparks PR summer reading challenge. At the beginning I was not sure what to expect. I had been reading Janet Evanovich's mystery's for weeks so my expectations were pretty high.  This book was able to meet those expectations and have a little Sophie Kinsella craziness feel in them as well. I really enjoyed this book.

Books That Would Make Great Movies

Books That Should Be Movies

I have been sitting and thinking about books I would love to see become movies. Here are some I think would be excellent on the big screen:

  • Jennifer Weiner: Good In Bed, Little Earthquakes
  • Meg Cabot: Size 12 Isn't Fat, Queen of Babble
  • Sophie Kinsella: Undomestic Goddess, Remember Me, Can You Keep A Secret?
  • Jane Green: Mr. Maybe, Bookends
  • Emily Giffin: Love The One You're With

Some of my other favorites are currently filming or will be in theaters any day!
Very excited to see:

  • Emily Giffin: Something Borrowed
  • Janet Evanovich: One For The Money

Which books would you love to see become a movie?

Hardcover, Paperback or Ebook? Favorite place to read?

Over the past week or so I have had the same conversation with people. Ebook or real book? Personally while I enjoy ebooks and think they are great to travel with real books are better. There is something about the smell of a brand new book and cracking the spine for the first time. It's soothing! It kind of comes close to the calming effect that the smell of walking into a Coach store has on me. That smell just gets you and all your troubles seem to go away. lol

As for whether I prefer paperback or hardcover I choose paperback. Hardcover gets very heavy when you hold it for long periods of time. So personally trade paperback is my favorite for continuous reading.

I know this will sound strange (okay maybe not as strange as saying that the smell of a new book is calming, but strange). When I read a book I really like to have access to both an ebook and a paperback copy. One of my favorite places to read is lying down in bed in the dark, which is very easy to do with my brand new ipad. Trying to read a paperback or hardcover book at night like that is just impossible. So I like to have my ebook to read in bed. Traveling by subway, I prefer not to bring my expensive ereader to get bounced around in my bag and slammed into by other people. There I prefer to have a hard copy. So if I have both I am able to get the best of both worlds and read my ebook at night and my hard copy during the day. I also tend to finish a book faster when I have both a hard and digital copy. I am not really sure why I seem to read faster when I have both, but for some reason I do.

Most people I have spoken to seem to agree while ebook is easier to travel with a hard copy book is better!

What is your opinion ebook or hard copy?

Love The One You're With (Chick Lit Challenge, TBR Challenge Book 4)

I just finished Love The One You're With By Emily Giffin. While it isn't as good as her other books (i.e. Something Borrowed and Something Blue) it is still a great book. It begins when a women runs into an old boyfriend in the middle of NYC leaving her wondering if she made the right decision by choosing her husband.

I highly recommend everyone read it!

The Opposite of Me by Sarah Pekkanen (Chick Lit Challenge, TBR Challenge Book 3, Just For Fun Challenge Book 2)

The Opposite of Me by Sarah Pekkanen

Have you ever picked up a book and know by the second page that you are going to fall in love and not be able to put it down? That's what happened to me when I first started to read Opposite of Me. I first discovered Sarah Pekkanen through my love of Jennifer Weiner's books. She had a promotion that if you purchased Opposite of me she would send you one of her books (your choice) autographed. I immediately placed my order and emailed Jennifer my choice of book. Both books arrived a short time later. School had taken over my life by then and the books sat on the shelve waiting for the day they would be read.

About a year later when I realized that Sarah's second book Skipping a Beat would be out any day I decided that it needed to be read. I had heard wonderful things about Opposite of Me and had no excuse for not reading it yet. I picked it up and began reading. I didn't stop that day until way after 200 pages. I knew right from the start that this was going to be a great book!

The book begins by following Lindsey Rose through her life growing up as a twin, but not the prettier of the two. It then follows her as advertiser working for a high profile agency. Her hard work had paid off and she was on track to become the youngest vice president at her firm. One night she looses a large campaign, and her job, causing life as she knew it to come to a screeching stop.

She decides to move back home with her parents and find a new job. This brings about a whole set of new problems like how to tell her parents she was fired and dealing with her sister who she barely had relationship with. Little did she know that a chance meeting after an uncharacteristic shopping spree would change her life.

Want to know how it ends? Well I will not ruin it for you. Go buy the book and find out!

If you have not read Opposite of Me yet don't wait, run to your local bookstore and get it. And don't forget to pick up a copy of Skipping a Beat this February too. She also has a short story available for ebook only entitled All is Bright.

I am so sorry that I waited so long to read Opposite of Me. I promise not to wait to read Skipping a Beat!

Check out Sarah's Website: http://www.sarahpekkanen.com/

The Little Things Make Me Happy

The Little Things Make Me Happy!

The little things make me very happy. I just discovered that there are more emoticons available for Blackberry Messenger (BBM). I haven't figured out how to save them yet but I do know how to copy and paste them into my BBMs.

For those of you who are interested copy and paste the below message and email it to yourself. Then copy it into a BBM. They don't look like anything until they are in the BBM. You have to copy it into a BBM in sections because there are so many. Sorry that some are repeating.

Enjoy!!!!

The EReader debate

The EReader Debate

For months I have been trying to decide between the Nook and the Kindle. Then the Ipad came out now all I can think about is that! So I have been debating between the three devices. The Ipad does everything under the sun, but it is so much more expensive then the other devices. The kindle is only black and white, and it doesn't have a back-light which would make reading at night in bed impossible. It does have a keyboard though which is a plus. The Nook is in color as well, but it doesn't have a keyboard. I can go to websites and check my email from it and it has a back-light so I would be able to read at night. I can import my files into all the devices.

I think part of the reason the decision is so hard is because the Ipad is so expensive. It was the same price or close in price to the Nook and the Kindle I would be getting that. Unfortunately that is not the case so I can't decide between the three devices.
So I am bring my debate to everyone to help me make a decision. What EReader device do you have and what are your likes and dislikes? Is it easy to import files? Is the software user friendly? I want to know everything about your device. How did you decide to get the device you have?

Swagbucks Thursday!

Swagbucks Thursday!

Search & Win

A few weeks ago I saw a story on CBS news about earning prizes by doing a few surveys or downloading coupons from a site. I joined one and thought you may want to too. I have been earning money since joining a few weeks ago. It's really easy to use the Swagbucks search engine to do your normal internet searching and sometimes you will be rewarded with Swagbucks which can then be redeemed for some great prizes. I search for things I would normally be searching for, so I might as well earn some swag money for it. Once you have enough swagbugs you can get great rewards such as Amazon Gift Cards, Ipods/Ipads, Movies and much much more. Don't forget to check out other ways to earn swagbucks once you join.

Click the bar above or the Swagbucks search engine link to join and start earning today!

Stumble Tumble Tuesday

Welcome to
Stumble Tumble Tuesday hosted by Simply Stacie, Still Blonde After All These Years, Shopper Gal, Luxury Reading, Acting Balanced and Kelly’s Lucky You! The goal of this hop is to use Stumble Upon to help you promote your blog posts and get more traffic!
If you are new to Stumble Upon, please check out this tutorial on how it works.
To take part is simple.
1. Add a link to a blog post that you would like people to stumble to the linky below. It *must* be a link to an actual post and NOT your main site. Please do not list giveaways.
2. Stumble the 5 posts above your link. This way everyone’s posts will be stumbled. If you like you can stumble them all. The great thing about Stumble Upon is that it is fast and easy to do with the Stumble Upon toolbar. PLEASE DO NOT ADD YOUR LINK IF YOU AREN’T GOING TO STUMBLE ANY POSTS. This hop will only work if we all do our share.
Important Note: If you are the first person to Stumble a post, please take a minute and fill out the Stumble Upon review page. This is a one shot deal so if you don’t fill it out, that particular post will never get the same opportunity again.
Feel free to post about Stumble Tumble Tuesday on your blog and help us spread the word.
Have fun with it and let’s discover and stumble some posts!

Remember to enter your blog into the list below by clicking the link.
You will be able to add your links until Friday January 21, 2011.

STLYISH BLOG AWARD!!!

I received my first blog award tonight. I received this lovely award from Cathy at Lip Gloss and Literature! Thank you so much Cathy. I hope that the blog continues to be "stylish" and inspire others.

And Now the Rules of the Award:

1. Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them in your post.
2. Tell us 7 things about yourself.
  1. I love reading chick lit.
  2. I will be an audiologist soon.
  3. I put my heart and soul into everything I do.
  4. My favorite authors are Meg Cabot, Jennifer Weiner, Emily Giffin, Sophie Kinsella, and Jane Green.
  5. I never liked reading as a child until my mother walked in with me watching the Princess Diaries movie for the millionth time and said to me you know that's a book right? That was all it took for me to pick up Meg Cabot's books. I have read every single one under her pseudoname and her name.
  6. I am counting down until Meg Cabot's next books come down.
  7. I wish I had more time to just sit and read.
3. Award 15 super stylish bloggers this award.

4. Contact those bloggers and let them know they have won.

Thank you again for the award. I hope that everyone continues to enjoy it. Please feel free to express your likes and dislikes as this is my first venture into blogging and value everyone's input!
